We watched Mary Poppins, were covered in Scout kisses and ate Snickerdoodle cookies.

Couponer in Training

Do you ever watch extreme couponing on TLC? I kind of love that show. It just shows that if you put time and thought into something, you will definitely be rewarded. In their case it is free groceries.

Today I dabbled in some couponing. I've been doing it here and there since my New Years Resolution.

The Original Total today was $90.91 and I paid $30.79.

Saving $60.12

The unexpected find was at Target. Black frames with mats originally $7.99 each and were reduced to $1.98 each. I grabbed 4 since I have a plan for them in the Kitchen.

Usually I don't buy junk food. But we'll be having company for the next couple months, so i figure it will be eaten.

What about you. Do you Coupon? I would love some tips.

The Heat Index today in Charleston was 109. It's just stupid.

I am currently enjoying the AC and eating watermelon.

Poor Scout.. It's just too hot to take her out. I'm going to try a sunset walk here in a minute.

Peaches and Prosciutto on Ciabatta

I made this super easy and scrumptious summer appetizer for dinner at my Papa's house the other night.


1) Toast Ciabatta slices. I brushed mine with a tad of olive oil.


2) Spread each piece with ricotta cheese and sprinkle with a bit of black pepper.

3) Add a thin slice of prosciutto and a drizzle of honey to each slice.

4) Then top with two slices of ripe peaches.

I enjoyed these with a glass of pinot grigio. Perfect summertime app.

The Wreck

Last night for dinner Matt and I went to one of our favorite hole in the wall restaurants. The Wreck is located on Shem Creek in Mount Pleasant way past the bars and in the middle of the Shrimp docks. It is named after a ship wrecked itself on the site during Hurricane Hugo in 1989.

We sipped on an icy beer as the sun was setting. Our table was ready, but they give you the option to enjoy the view a little longer.


Our table still had the same view, but just inside a huge screened in porch. They don't have AC but they do have about 20 ceiling fans busting a move.

Instead of bread they bring boiled peanuts. This is when I stopped taking pics.

We split one of the platters and ordered two extra sides. We enjoyed Oysters, grilled and boiled shrimp, red beans and rice, coleslaw, hominy cakes and hush puppies. We were stuffed!

If you live in the area or are just visiting please stop by this little gem. It's only open for dinner and have only one non-seafood item.

DIY: Ikat Fabric

Found this and squealed with delight. I love the ikat fabric pattern and design sponge totally delivered with a simple tutorial.

This is a strong contender in the Master Bedroom Update. Stay tuned.

Bucket List for Summer

I've decided to make the most of this summer, even if I don't have any travel plans. I mean seriously, we live in a vacation destination and there is tons to do. Here is my bucket list for a Charleston, SC Summer.

Outdoor Concerts under Spanish Moss- I already did this but I'm up for more

Lots of Sunset walks and Dog park trips with my sweet girl

A relaxing tube ride down the Edisto- see here for an idea

Time off with family - Matt's family is coming in July and mine in August. Looks like a lot of beach time is in store.

Bridesmaids

Last night my girlfriends and I saw Bridesmaids at the Cinnebarre in Mount Pleasant.

It was hilarious. The kind of funny when you are stomping your feet and have your hands over your face.

PS.. A big shout out to Cinnebarre. My debit card fell out of my pocket and they found it and are holding it for me. THANK YOU!

Weekend Recap

Well we had a nice and productive weekend


Friday after work we headed to Lowes to get our supplies for Saturday. After wards we gobbled up some Mexican food.


Saturday we got up, drank our coffee and started on the bedroom. We decided this nook is my cozy new bed. My brother said all I needed was a rope ladder.



After cleaning the walls and taping it all up, we finally were ready to paint.


It's still wet in this photo, but it dried to exactly what we wanted. The color is called Metropolis by Valspar. We decided to go with the paint and primer in one. We will never go back. It was really good paint.

After all of our hard work we decided we deserved some cold beer. We headed to Red's.

Scout of course tagged along and made about 50 new friends.


The couple next to us kept giving her parts of their salads. She loved the croutons, chicken and a little bit of lettuce.




My outfit for the night... Really don't know why I gave those Sexy Eyes. May have been the 3 beers. :)

Sunday was pretty slow. I worked on planning the rest of the bedroom, cleaned, vacuumed, took the Girl Scout on a walk and read my book.

Sunday Brunch: Bloody Mary Bar

I'm not hosting a brunch anytime soon but one of my favorite things in life is a Bloody Mary bar. I love how they are basically a meal in a glass. Plus when you need a little hair of the dog it will be your best friend.

Here are my essential items to put out on a DIY Bloody Mary Bar :

Vodka- I like the Peppar vodka for a nice spicy Bloody Mary

My favorite mix is Zing Zang

Anti-pasta Skewer. I would probably take off the tomato and add shrimp and pickles

Also I would add the following for a DIY bar

Worcestershire

Celery salt for rim

Clamato Juice

Celery Stalks

Pickled Okra or Green Beans

What is your favorite garnish for a Bloody Mary?

btw: I wanted to abbreviate the term Bloody Mary this entire post but I thought B.M. wasn't very appropriate.
