Fashion Week Recap

As I mentioned before, The Spa had a table set up for

Charleston Fashion Week

We were raffling off Spa services and our wonderful therapist Ali-- you know awesome mom and comedian-- was giving out some amazing chair massages.
It was fun seeing designers from Project Runway as well as up and coming local designers

Saturday was Bridal.. though my wedding has long passed, I still love the bridal fashions. We also lucked out and were set up next to a local caterer. Can you say deconstructed BLT's???

I am still enjoying the flower arrangement for our table. Big shout out to Bloom, The hotel's onsite florist. Y'all will have your vase back soon!

A Visit from Poptart

Little Poppy Miller (and her mama) came to the Ishee's house for a visit today.

We had a total girls day including lunch, gossip and Sex and the City.

See Carrie's Shoes in her Heaven on 5th closet?

After lunch it was nap time.

Can't wait until next week when we do it all over again.

Guilty Pleasure

So I'm borderline obsessed with Bethany Frankel and her Sweet Family

I've seen all of the episodes but still get sucked into the marathons

Has anyone read any of her books? How are they?

Weekend Recap

Hello Ladies of Blogland
Hope everyone had a Wonderful Weekend. Our weekend was great. Lots of delicious food and a couple too many drinks. We are both drinking Gatorades today.

Saturday, after I got off of work we went to Hanks. We sat at the bar and enjoyed some wine and apps.

My thrown together last minute outfit. Little cardigan from Forever 21 and long tank (w/ frilly sleeves) from Banana Republic
Out of this world Oyster Sampler and Fried Rock Shrimp

Next we went to Lana on Rutledge. This is my new favorite place. The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered an olive bowl to enjoy our meal with. I failed to take a photo of my Gnocchi and Matts Duck. Oh and did I mentioned the Gelato Sampler.

Now on to Sunday Funday. Our friend Joe Firstman was in town so we caught a bit of a show at Home Team BBQ. Afterwards we went over to Mark Bryan's (from Hootie and the Blowfish) downtown apt. We listened to Joe's new album and drank a couple frosty beverages.

View of the Ravenel Bridge from Marks balcony
Next Matt and I went to Coast where I saw my friend Stacy.
Our final stop of the evening was AC's. That is where the rest of the guys were. They shot pool, drank beers and shots. I was being good at this point and was on Club Soda w/ lime squeezes. I ran into my friend Ali . Did I mention she does improv?
Overall, I didn't get much done this weekend. Today is my second day off so I guess I should attempt some laundry. Hmmmpph.

Batter Up!

Isn't my hubby adorable?

In Matt's life before Kristen (B.K.) he was a College Baseball Coach. He spent his majority of coaching years at Mississippi State and yes one of these days I will give you a tour of his office. It's as if the college threw up in there.

After Kristen (A.K.) Matt sells packaging materials. (Glamorous) However, he is still involved with baseball in town. He does hitting and pitching lessons almost daily and he is also helping out the local High School Varsity team. He sometimes helps the kids get signed to Colleges. When I go to the games, the parents look at me funny. They think I'm some kind of sex predator. Not the case.

When they ask me, "Who are you here watching?"

I simply say, "That dreamboat of a 3rd base coach."

Fat Tuesday

Growing up in Michigan I related Fat Tuesday with the Paczki. What's a Paczki you ask?(Pronounced Puntchki )

It is a Polish doughnut that can be found in Hamtramck bakeries in Michigan. It is deep fried dough filled with anything you can think of. Apples, Lemon, Cream, Raspberry, Chocolate etc.

Since I am unable to enjoy my Paczki here in Charleston, I lean towards my Mississippi born husbands Fat Tuesday tradition. Enter the King Cake.

A New Orleans tradition which are easier to find here in Charleston. It is basically twisted bread which can be filled with fruit, cream cheese and pralines. Matt and I just like the cinnamon King Cake. The cake is covered with frosting and colorful Mardi Gras colored sugars. Oh and there is a tiny plastic baby hidden in the cake which signifies the Sweet little 8 pound, 6 oz Baby Jesus. :)

So yes, I will be eating something bad for me today. But Ash Wednesday kicks off tomorrow where I'll give up baked goods... Wait, maybe not baked goods. My birthday is during Lent.

Waterfront Park Picnic

Today was a brisk 64 degrees and a couple of us girls (and Jamison) headed to the Waterfront Park in Mt. Pleasant for a picnic lunch.

The always funny and entertaining Ali and her son Jamison

I was amazed how he was able to navigate the phone.. Wiz Kid Poppy made the picnic too!

And yes, once on the pier the shark showed up

The one pic of me... not cute

Here is a pic of the PB&J Bars I made last night. I grabbed the recipe from Epicurious

They turned out really yummy. If you make them, bake it for an additonal 5-10 minutes if you are following the recipe. And yes, that is a Tervis Tumbler w/ milk. I'm telling you I have 3 different sizes. I have issues.

I think...

All of us Girls (and a couple of Guys) should go to the photo below and have a Blogger Meet and Greet. Mojitos & Ceviche will be served.

What do y'all think?

Food+Wine Recap

Last night was super fun and delish. There was everything from Poptart Eclairs to Bacon Cotton Candy. Cabernet and Rose were flowing well like wine. I was very much enjoying ginger mojitos and yummy limoncellos.

Hello Good Looking!

The Tent was huge. This is just a sliver

A Tiny Little Cocktail from the Gin Joint booth.

So this pic and the next ones are rough. Basically just us walking back to the car.
Yes, I think I should have been in my 20's during the 70's. My hair would have been so cool back then.

I warned you
Matt pretending to be an airplane. For the record he only indulged in one glass of wine. So responsible.

Blossoming Branches

Charleston's Trees are Blossoming and so are the Tourists

At least while I'm stuck behind carriages and fanny packs, I'm looking at beautiful gardens.

Garden Planning

So a couple of weeks ago I started a bucket list. One of the items on the list is to have a successful garden. Is 2011 the year?

Today I'm enjoying a little patio time and writing out some plans for the yard.

We have a very sunny yard both in the front and back. We plan on doing some veggies this year and adding in some heat tolerant perennials. The climate down here is tough compared to what I grew up in. Plus our soil is all clay and sand. I have yet to see an earthworm in my yard. Very unlike my parents house in Michigan.

My mom gave me a great gardening book a couple of years ago. The pictures and plant descriptions are great.
One can dream

Sidenote: This is my favorite cup! I seriously have a deep rooted love for Tervis Tumblers.

Here I am in the Salon on my Wedding Day. Yes I brought my own cup. FinalPics (238 of 680)

What are your garden plans for spring/summer/fall? Small herb pots? Climbing Morning Glories?

Anyone want to come over and help me weed and clear branches?
