Traveling Husbands

Matt travels for work about every 2 weeks. As much as I miss him there still is a part that loves that 'Kristen' time. You know exactly what I mean. Eat what I want, watch HGTV or SATC, do pilates in the living room, bubble baths and the list goes on. Yes, I'm 27 and still have dance parties. Mostly with Scout (she's a fantastic dancer).

However, like any good husband my safety is still his priority. At night he calls to make sure the house is secure. First thing in the morning I have to text/call him. Then again I have to do it when I get to work safely. Below is a pic I sent to him letting him know I was safe.

So now my question to you.
What odd things have you done while your husband/bf/fiance is out of town?
Be honest. I promise I probably have done it as well.

Surprise Mail

Last year, I was at a bar waiting for some food to be ready when I stumbled upon a coaster/post card. Immediately I pulled out a pen. Since we just got back from a visit with my bro, I decided he was the chosen one.

A couple of weeks ago while at Poes, those fun coasters were back. So of course I wrote Brady again. Matt wrote one to his sister Britton.

Don't fire me Charleston Place for having one of your pens. Just think of it as advertising.

Cheap fun! Don't you love to find surprise mail?

A Gorgeous Rainy Day

This morning around 1:30 AM our house got rocked with a thunderstorm. The power went out shortly and poor Scout was up in our bed shaking like a leaf.

The booming entrance of the storm has quieted and now its just a lovely rain. You have no idea how bad we needed this rain. My plants have been parched. Sadly, some have been buried. RIP Basil, Parsley and Geraniums.

I really wish I didn't have to work today, but I need to bring home that bacon so Matt can fry it up. :)

What is your favorite thing to do on a rainy day?
Personally I like to crack the window and just relax.
I love the smell of wet grass.

Power Play

Last night I went to a girlfriends 30th Birthday Party. We had a delicious dinner and were getting pretty competitive with a game of Pictionary.

Then the power went out... Have no fear, my friend Cynthia had a headlamp hanging on a hook just for this occasion. Whats even better is that our friend Dave had 2 more in his car.

The iHome had back up battery power and we kept playing the game. It's all about being prepared people.

Up and Away

I really wish TGIF was still on. Nothing like Full House and Step by Step.

Awendaw

Yesterday after some yard work we headed out to Awendaw (10 minutes away) for a dock picnic.

One of Matt's friends has a beautiful lot on the intercoastal. We spent the afternoon watching dolphins, fishing and enjoying the salty breeze. Of course Scout jumped in, but then freaked out when she realized she couldn't get back on the dock. Matt saved the day and pulled her back up.

Completely off topic

Last night my friend Amber sent me the below text:

Matt wanted me to send them his best Warren Beatty.

What do you think? Any resemblance?

1/2 Time

Hi folks! Just wanted to check in. I've been on a little staycation, and I'm loving every minute of it. As I mentioned before, Matt's mom is in town. It's been both busy and relaxing.

Saturday: After I got off of work, we went to The Wreck again for dinner. The rest of the crew worked in the yard all day, so they had a hearty appetite. The oysters and shrimp were delish.

Sunday: We went to Church and then up to Myrtle Beach for a little day trip. The main reason was to get Colette some new golf clubs. We were feeling touristy and headed to Margaritaville for lunch. Food wasn't very good, but the mango margarita was. :)

Monday: Today we played golf. Now I rarely play, but Matt is very patient and an excellent coach. It was beautiful outside and the marsh views were gorgeous. We just finished up our dinner of hamburgers, corn and baked beans.

The next couple days will involve dinner at Husk, Lowes and some more yard work.

Charleston Parking

I love this view from my parking spot in the morning.

It looks even better when the sun starts to set and my work day is done. :)

Hope everyone has an adventurous weekend! Matt's mom and husband (Coco and Pop-Pop) are coming into town tonight. Should be a fun next couple of days.

Hoarding- Scout Style

So yesterday I was getting ready to vacuum the house. But I paused, looked down and realized that Scout is a hoarder.
Whenever she moves rooms or even couches she tends to move along her toys. Even though she can't have babies, maybe it's a motherly instinct. Maybe her toys are her litter.

Buddy the Muskrat was a Christmas gift from Harper. She takes really good care of him but other dogs tear him apart when they come over. I have sewed on patches.
Sayde the Pheasant (not sure if she is a pheasant) is new. Matt picked her up while Scout got a Manicure/Pedicure at Petsmart

She is sweet as pie!

Monday Date Night

Since I have today off, last night Matt wanted to do a date night.

We had dinner at Poe's on Sullivans Island. One of our favorite places!

Matt had the Pit and Pendulum Burger and I had the Buffalo Shrimp Salad

A Salty Marsh Sunset leaving Sullivans Island

We got our sweet tooth fix at Menchies. One of our weekly guilty pleasures.

I had strawberry & ny cheesecake frozen yogurt with kiwi and peaches. Matt sticks with his usual chocolate with m&m's and caramel. We both tried out the marshmallow cream. Pretty darn good.

Do any of you do date nights on random nights of the week?

Charleston Wedding Studio

I just got an email from our Wedding Florist Beth LeonGuerrero with Wildflowers, Inc. She has partnered with the Charleston Wedding Studio and has written a blog entry about red, white and blue weddings.

I'm so excited that she chose a couple of pics from our wedding. The guys wore Khaki suits so we were definitely a patriotic crew. It was a fall wedding and I didn't want the usual oranges and deep reds.

If any of you are Charleston Bride's to Be, I highly recommend Beth. She did a fantastic job and stayed well within my non existent budget.

Staycationing

The past couple days have been delightful. It's exactly what I needed.

Beach.Grilling.Shopping.Staying up Late.Sleeping In

Matt flagged down the Ice Cream Man after mowing. He shared his rocket pop with Scout.

While I flagged down Mr. Cuervo. This is my first drink I swear. My eyes are just shut.

I always laugh at unflattering pictures.

Maybe I should start a caption contest.
