Irene's Sunset

After Irene blew by us on Friday evening, she gifted us the most beautiful sunset.



I should have ran to the harbor or beach to snap some good ones. But pics form my backyard will do.

Just Because

Not to throw it in your faces but damn, I have a great husband. We've been together nearly 5 years now and he still surprises me.

Finding this yesterday when I got home from work totally made my day. I just finished a 7 day stretch and I have today off.

I love that he put the flowers in my Grandma's old milk glass vase. :)

Why the nickname 'Princess Buttercup'? Well when we first started dating he wrote me a bedtime story. My character was Princess Buttercup. He's a keeper ladies.

Unexpected grocery store flowers and a card are better than fancy dinners and expensive vacations. I love this man. Bow chicka wow!

Jewelry Organization 101

My current Jewelry Organization System is pretty much non-existent. It's basically a nail in the wall left by previous owners and a couple of boxes/bags holding my baubles.

This little gem is definitely on my DIY list. I might add a strip of metal mesh for earrings.

2nd Anniversary Help

Help ladies (and gentlemen)! I need some suggestions for our upcoming 2nd Anniversary Getaway. Our Anniversary is Sunday October 2nd.

We are trying to keep the cost down somewhat so we are looking to stay in SC, NC or GA.

Does anyone know a cute Bed and Breakfast, Hotel, Cabin, Rental?

Palmetto Bluff Resort may be an option if we can work a hotel swap with them.

Not necessary, but would love for it to involve beach cruisers.

It looks like I may be staying at my hotel this weekend. Management usually stays when a Hurricane is under a Cat 4. Good thing we are pet friendly.

I'll be watching this pretty close the next couple of days.

Ahhh Staycation

Ahoy there! Well my staycation is winding down. It's been fabulous! My parents left today and are driving back to good ole Michigan. My Aunt Linda's family goes back to Minnesota tomorrow.

We enjoyed a week full of great meals, beach bumming, pool time, movies, jigsaw puzzles and catching up with one another.

Scout got a new toy from my mom. Bandits tail was falling off so he needed some surgery. Scout was so worried about him and waited patiently while he was getting stitched up.

Then it was more beach time.. Papa headed out with us one day.

Today Matt and I are having a great day at home. We already went to Petsmart and the Dog Park. Now I'm going to catch up on some blogs and get my house back to normal.

Am I too young to retire? I could get use to this vacation thing.

Taco Mamacita

Hi folks! I know I've been a terrible, uninspired blogger for the past 2 weeks. Please stick with me and don't lose faith.

My parents are in town so we've been busy being beach bums and cooking big meals. Today we headed out to Taco Mamacitas on Sullivans Island for lunch.



I had the Baja and Memphis taco with Mexican street corn.

Matt had an enchilada with some beans.

It was pretty tasty. The salsa was good and had some smoke behind it.

Tonight we are seeing The Help and I'm fired up. ($5 Cinnebarre Tuesdays!!!)

I'll try to check back soon but to be completely honest I'm trying to unplug a little bit.

Sorry for the brief step out of the Blog-o-Sphere

I worked a long week last week and I had very productive days off which didn't include turning on my laptop. Here are some pics from the last couple of days

My lunch at work.. Took a picture to make Matt jealous. Usually I eat a salad everyday. But I was feeling like some country fried steak, taters and collards. Slap yo mama.

Tuesday I hit up the $5 movie tickets at Cinnebarre and saw Crazy Stupid Love. It was great!

After the movie I headed to the Farmers Market in Mt. Pleasant.

Did you say Gyro and Elephant Ears? I didn't indulge. But I thought about it.

Yesterday morning Scout and I went on a walk. It started out sunny but the weather changed drastically and we got rained on as we ran home. At one point Scout was running with her eyes shut and then just sat down in the neighbors yard admitting defeat. We made it home and she basically passed out.

What's new with y'all? I have to go back for about 5 days and catch up on your posts.

Michigan

The Charleston heat is killing me slowly. I'm definitely missing the Michigan summers of my past.

The good news is my parents are coming in for a visit in a week. Hopefully they bring cooler weather and maybe some cherries. (a clue)

DIY: Sunburst Mirror

I know you all have seen the Sunburst Mirrors all over the internet. I just can't or won't pay $400 for one. So today I decided to make one.

I went to Lowes to buy some wood shims and Michael's to get some wreath rings. I couldn't find the right kind, so I bought embroidery hoops.

Then I hot glued on the shims

All while watching Sex and the City

I went through probably 25 glue sticks and burnt my fingers about 13 times.

I primed it first

Then sprayed it gold

It's not done yet, but i wanted to show you what it will look like with the mirror. I'm still going to give it one more spray and then glue on the mirror.

Total Cost $16

I will show it off once it's hung on the wall.
