Holiday Lights

Last night Matt and I headed over to James Island. We met up with our friends Amber and Jon at J. Paulz and enjoyed some sushi.

Afterwards dinner, Amber and I sprung it on the boys that we were going to the James Island County Park to drive through and see the lights. The boys huffed and puffed but of course we got them there and we all had a great time.

Sorry for the quality of the pics. Matt was driving a little too fast.

Recovering

Hi ladies... Thanks for sticking with me. I've had a lot going on lately. Maybe I'll share it with you someday, but right now I'm in healing mode. Just letting you know that I'm alive and well. :0)

So how was everyone's Thanksgiving? Mine was wonderful. Matt's mom and sister came to visit us. We had a great time and a house full of people. I have better pictures on my regular camera that I'll post later. Til then here are some iPhone pics.

The kids got up from the floor for one second and Scout took over. I love this dog.

It's good to be back. I missed y'all terribly.

Turkey on the Brain

So I have Thanksgiving on my mind. Every year I work on the Holiday and the entire weekend after. This year is no different. However, Matt's family is coming to visit. So of course I want to get everything as prepped as possible for his mom and sister.

The past couple of days I've been making the menu. I would love to add something new to the table this year. I was kind of thinking a savory tart (goat cheese & mushroom) or maybe some roasted brussel sprouts.

So let me ask you. What are your must have Thanksgiving table foods? I'm looking for some inspiration.

Bryson City, NC

Ladies and Gentlemen, the wait is over. Finally here are some pictures of our mountain weekend at Lakeview at Fontana.

As we pulled up the first thing I screamed was, "Pumpkins!" What can I say, I love small details.

Matt at the front stoop of our sweet little cabin. Two bedrooms, one bath, living area and kitchen.

Our good friends Amber and Jon went with us. They are the best couple to travel with. Can't wait until our next adventure.

Wine and cheese everyday at 5pm. Here's a tip for you home cooks. They mix pesto and mustard together. It was surprisingly very tasty.

Woke up on Saturday and found this little leaf bug outside our door.

We spent the rest of the day in the Spa, having a long lunch, drinking mimosas, napping, wine and cheese hour and making dinner in our kitchen. Bolognese with salad and bread.

Jon's Spa Head. We all looked like this.

We played cards until 1am and had a dance party in our cabin.

Matt has a heavy hand while pouring. Amber didn't mind.

Overall it was a fantastic weekend with great friends. I would recommend this place to anyone. It's perfect for couples and girlfriends weekends. There is not much to do which is exactly what we all need sometimes.

Semi Fall Bucketlist

Even though fall is Half Way over, here are a couple of things I've done and look forward to doing:

Thanks to Laura at Hominy Girl we found the perfect Anniversary destination. We went to the Lakeview at Fontana 2 weekends ago. It's super affordable and had a Spa, Yoga, breakfast and afternoon cheese and wine. It was PERFECTION!! Pictures still too come. Sorry my work schedule has been crazy.

We'll be heading to Starkville, Mississippi on November 12th for the Mississippi State vs. Alabama game. Can't wait to see Matt's family who will be meeting us there.

Scarves, Cardigans, Jeans and Boots.. OH MY!

Pretty Spooky

In the Spirit of Halloween approaching here are some pictures I took today in one of my favorite Charleston graveyards.

I love how everything is overgrown. How could it be scary with so many wildflowers??

2nd Anniversary!

Two years ago today I married my better half. It's funny how fast time has gone by and how much closer we have gotten. I love this man more than anything. Here is to another 100 years.

Fall Threads

We had fall-ish weather this past weekend. It was glorious, however I know it will be in the 90's again very shortly.
With the brisk weather it got me thinking about boots, scarves and jackets. Here is whats on my mind:

DIY:Yarn Wreath

Had a great day today! Got up early, Matt and I each got our oils changed, ran errands and did my first fall craft. It was super easy and cost less than $5. With out further ado, meet my new front door wreath.

I didn't use too many materials. I bought a large piece of foam tubing at Lowes that I cut and duct taped into a ring ($1.50). Then I headed over to Michaels for the yarn ($1.99) and the felt ($1.20). Just basically a lot of hot glue and about 2 hours of crafting.

Here is a tutorial on how to make the felt flowers if you want to make your own.

Hello Friday

After a crazy, hectic day at work {Can you say Bridal Group Spa Day} I'm so looking forward to this weekend. Since I worked on Labor Day, I get to enjoy a 3 day weekend.

How fun is it to recreate childhood pictures?

Babysitting Baby Poppy

My friend SaraRuth is moving today across town. Gladly I offered her my babysitting services. The day has been full of Sesame Street, carrots & applesauce and babbling stories.

Home of the Brave

10 years ago I was 17 years old and a Senior in high school. I was sitting in my entrepreneurship class when my vice principal made the announcement about the attacks. I was scared and a friend next to me started to cry. Her uncle worked in the Pentagon. That afternoon the Senior class sat in the library watching the footage. This was before each classroom had a tv or computer with internet.

My basketball game was cancelled that evening and my whole family stayed at home that night and watched the coverage. In the coming weeks I remember donating blood and money to the cause. I didn't know how else to help. I remember a couple of my friends were signing up for the Marines. I was so proud of their sacrifice.

So on this day hold your family, friends and neighbors close. Be selfless and do a kind act for a stranger. Even if we can't agree on all topics, remember that we share this great country and our freedom is constantly being earned.

God Bless America, land that I love.

Where were you on that day?

I Took the Plunge

So I did it after contemplating many months and joined Pinterest. I blame my good friend SaraRuth.

It has pretty much consumed my life for the past 24-hours. I need to walk away, but another gorgeous image keeps showing up. So here are a couple of Dream House images I've found. Enjoy.
