My Charming Charleston

Enjoy Charleston Native Darius Rucker's new video for
Come Back Song

I've heard the song a dozen times on the radio but just saw the video for the first time on Hallie's Blog- Southern Dash of Sass. It really captures downtown and the harbor beautifully.

If any of my readers are ever in the area, please let me know. I'd love to show you around.

P.S. He always comes into my Spa to buy his wife gift certificates. :)
P.P.S. I live 2 miles away from a Sonic. Oh yea, Charleston has it going on.

Manhattan

Composite photo of Manhattan in 1609 vs now. It reminds me of a book I read a couple years ago called Forever by Pete Hamill . It's a story of an Irish Immigrant who is cursed with immortality who arrives when New York was just founded. He is not allowed to leave the island of Manhattan and becomes witness to how the city develops all the way to the attacks of September 11th.

Welcome to Hotel Carolina

Matt and I had a great weekend at the Hotel Carolina Concert Weekend on Isle of Palms. There were lots of great singer-songwriter artists that came and jammed out for the whole weekend.

Here is Joe Firstman, our roommate for the weekend. Y'all need to check him out.
Saturday morning hangover. I call this one Jameson Whiskey. OUCH!
I'm the creepy lady taking pics of little kids. She was just too sweet.
Matt and Joe playing football... the day before it was baseball
Hurricanes out in the Atlantic made the water rough.
Saturday night: Josh Hoge, Matt Duke, Tony Lucca and Joe Firstman.

Though a bit glutenous, it was a great way to spend one the last weekends of Summer.
Ahhhh Gatorade.
P.S. thanks KIKI for house sitting and taking care of Scout.

He Put a Ring on It

2 Years Ago Matt proposed to me.
August 24, 2008
Sitting on our bench on Pitt Street Pier, looking out over Charleston Harbor, and BAM.. he popped THE question.
I can't believe that we've been married now for almost a year.
Time is flying by... a little too fast.

Ice Bucket

When I was in College I learned a little trick to keep our Beers, I mean Pops cold. We use to fill up the washing machine in the apartment or house with our drinks and ice. That way when the ice would melt, it would automatically drain. Plus if the party got broken up, the evidence was easily hidden. Via Martha
Now that I'm older and more mature I have to say that I still like this idea. I love the above tub idea from Martha Stewart.
Of course if I did this now, mine will be filled with Champagne rather than Busch Light.
Ahhhh Memories.

One of these days

Calabash N.C. 2008
Matt and I have recently realized that we have never been on vacation alone.
Since we've been together, no matter where we go, there is always a family member. This even includes our honeymoon. Snorkeling in Dominican Rep. where Matt's Dad lives. 2007

P.S. Matt's going to hate that I posted this pic. Sorry babe.
Ice Fishing in Michigan Xmas 2008
Honeymoon in New Orleans 2009
Now don't get me wrong.. We LOVE our family! Of course when we have time off we will try to visit with them. Just being able to travel is such a blessing. But one of these days we want to be selfish and go somewhere for just us. Somewhere neither of us have ever been.
We will someday.... Someday.

We Jumped in waves (don't mind the empty poo bag)
Overall-- We had a great day.
This is at Isle of Palms-- Dogs are welcome here anytime as long as their leashed.
